If you’ve noticed that your cat is suddenly starting to drink more water than usual, it could be a sign of a health issue.
Cats, by nature, aren’t big drinkers as they obtain most of their moisture from food (cats on a dry food diet being an exception).
Because of this, it’s easy for us to notice when our cats begin drinking more. This is a good thing, as it means you can get on top of any possible issues before they progress.
Potential health issues that have a symptom of excessive drinking include:
- Kidney disease
There is no way to tell if your cat has any of these conditions, or anything else causing the excess thirst, without visiting your vet and having diagnostic tests undertaken.
Considering the potential seriousness of any illness, it’s not something that should be left to chance if you are concerned about the amount of water your cat is drinking.
